Admission Process

Admission process

Detailed Step-by-Step Admission Process:

  1. Waitlist Application and Fee:
    • Parents complete and submit the AFS Waitlist Form.
    • Parents pay the one-time, non-refundable $75 waitlist fee to secure a position.
    • Due to full capacity, the applicant is placed on the waitlist.
    • It is understood that waitlist form submission does not guarantee admission.
  2. Waitlist Priority and Rollover:
    • The waitlist operates with the following priority: staff child, sibling of a current student, re-registration, new student.
    • If no spot is available in the application year, the application automatically rolls over to future years' waitlists at no extra charge.
  3. Notification of Available Spot:
    • When a spot becomes available, AFS administration calls the parent/guardian.
    • If the call is unanswered, a voicemail is left, followed by an email notification.
    • Parents must respond within 3 business days to accept or decline the spot.
    • Declining or failing to respond results in removal from the waitlist.
    • If one sibling gets a spot, other siblings gain priority in the same year, but simultaneous admission is not guaranteed.
  4. Interview/Entrance Assessment Scheduling:
    • For CASA students, an interview is scheduled based on Montessori Readiness Criterion.
    • For Grade 1-8 students, an entrance assessment is scheduled to assess grade-level academic readiness.
    • Once the application meets minimum requirements, the student is scheduled for an entrance assessment.
    • The assessment evaluates basic reading and mathematics skills.
  5. Assessment and Result Notification:
    • The student completes the scheduled interview/entrance assessment.
    • Assessment results are reviewed.
    • Parents receive an email regarding the next steps within 2 business days.
  6. Offer of Admission:
    • Based on the assessment results, an offer of admission is extended to the student.
  7. Submission of Admission Form and Documents:
    • Parents have 3 business days to submit the admission form and required documents as outlined in the offer letter.
    • Failure to submit within 3 business days results in the spot being offered to the next student on the waitlist.
  8. Document Verification:
    • Submitted documents are thoroughly verified for accuracy and completeness.
  9. Confirmation of Registration:
    • Once documents are verified, parents receive an email confirming official registration.
    • Failure to fulfill financial requirements within 3 business days results in the spot being offered to the next student on the waitlist.
